Every quarter we award a temporary worker, from each branch, the “temp of the quarter” certification.  This is given to the person that has excelled within their post(s).  They are presented with a certificate to acknowledge their achievements.

The winners for January to March 2012 are:

BEDFORD:

Heather Williams

Heather Williams has proved to be a conscientious, hardworking candidate for Shepherd Stubbs.  Mark Corrigan, Logistics Coordinator, stated “Heather thoroughly deserved this award due to her dedication and commitment to her work. Since she joined our team, Heather has always given 100%, her daily performance and results was one of the best. Heather has fitted into our team really well and gets on with everyone here at Evolution. I have every confidence in her abilities to be the best at whatever she decides to do in the future and I hope she remains with Evolution Homecare for some time to come”.

ST NEOTS:

Jenna Lewis has been working through Shepherd Stubbs at The Papworth Trust since January 2012.  Since this time Jenna has proved to be an asset.  She was recognised for her work ethic and ability.  Linda Moss, Facilities Supervisor said “Jenna came to work for The Papworth Trust as a part time temp receptionist.  She settled into the receptionist roll very quickly and staff were soon making use of her admin skills while manning the front desk.  A member of staff was so impressed with her work that I was asked if they could poach her from me, I agreed and she now temping for us full time carrying on with the work she had started.  She is also really friendly I would be more than happy to recommend her to anyone”.   The member of staff in question was Martin Frost, Project Manager, who has been highly impressed with Jenna’s ability, he stated “Jenna has proved to be a real asset, working on a complicated project she has picked up the main issues quickly and produced some excellent work. An ideal Project Support Co-ordinator, she has a lot of potential to further develop a career in Project Management in the future”.

KETTERING:

Paul Ohren Bird

Paul Ohren Bird has been working through our Kettering office since January 2012 and has always proven to be a reliable and trustworthy candidate.   Paul is working at BAM Nuttall and Alan Shingler, Senior Contracts Advisor said “Since joining the team Paul has made a huge contribution to the work we are currently undertaking both by the use of his extensive office administration skills and also his practical abilities. He has made it possible to get a new office running smoothly in a much shorter time that it would otherwise have taken.”

“Following nearly 10 years in the public sector I found myself in the position of having to look for work outside of the public sector.  I was unsure how best to market myself to any potential employer so decided to register with an agency.  I chose to register with Shepherd Stubbs as I was aware of their pro-active reputation.

The team at the Bedford office were courteous and extremely helpful and I was pleased with the feedback I was given following my registration interview.

I felt that Shepherd Stubbs worked hard to promote me to potential employers and within a short timescale I was put forward for a role at Charles Wells Pub Company.

The interview process for the role at Charles Wells Pub Company involved two separate interviews and although I am generally a confident person, my interview skills were a little rusty and the team at Shepherd Stubbs prepared me fully from tips about interview preparation, to the types of questions I may be asked and how best to present myself.

Following each of the interviews I received a follow up call from Shepherd Stubbs to discuss how I felt I had done and any feedback that the interviewer had provided.

As part of the feedback from Shepherd Stubbs I was advised that a decision was imminent and thankfully I was offered the role within Charles Wells.

I therefore left the public sector in at the end of October 2011 and began my employment with Charles Wells Pub Company in November 2011 working in the Commercial Services Department as a Commercial Administrator.  My main responsibilities in this role are to liaise with existing tenants and potential new tenants to arrange legal documentation pertaining to their tenancies within the pub estate (over 200 licensed premises) along with being responsible for any Premises Licence variations that are required at our sites (these can be both licensed activities such as drinking hours and entertainment along with structural changes to the physical buildings).  Along with these responsibilities I also support the Commercial Manager in a PA capacity and undertake any work as required in relation to supporting our tenants and customers.

I find the role to be very diverse and interesting.  It can, at times, be very pressured but fortunately my direct team and the wider staff within the Pub Company are a pleasure to work with as we are often all under the same pressures and there is a real sense of camaraderie within the organisation.

Whilst it has been a steep learning curve in terms of knowledge and the actual requirements of the role, my progress since November 2011 was recognised at the annual Pub Company Awards when I was nominated for the Passionate About Customer Care Award which had a total of 14 nominees in the running.  Owing to the high number of nominees there were two Awards given (winner and runner-up) and I was announced at our awards as the runner-up and received a framed award along with a bottle of pink champagne and £800 cash prize.  I was surprised and extremely flattered to received this award and am proud of my achievement during my first year with the company.

Karen’s Line Manager, Jo Venables, was looking for the perfect candidate that not only could carry out the role to its full potential, but also someone that would fit in with the team.

“Since Karen joined Charles Wells in November 2010, she has worked hard to achieve the knowledge and skills required for the role of commercial administrator.  This work has paid off with Karen achieving a silver runner up award in the 2011 Charles Wells Pub Company Awards for being Passionate About Customer Service.

Carina Smith has been temping at Rajapack for over a year now and has been an excellent candidate. Adam Spooner

Since Adam started working for our St Neots branch, we have always received good feedback from our clients. Adam is a reliable and flexible candidate who always shows dedication to his assignments.
